Did you see it? We made the front page of the Monroe News! Check out highlights of our disability awareness workshop for 4th graders at Raisinsville Elementary yesterday. To date almost 20,000 students across the region have participated in one of our “DAW” workshops. Every year CIL staff and volunteers provide interactive, hands-on, and fun activities that teach 4th grade students throughout Washtenaw and Monroe counties what it’s like to have a disability. This week 23 law students from the University of Michigan Law School joined us to help research and plan new ideas for our advocacy initiatives. Students spent the day researching advocacy programs around education, employment, housing, transportation, Social Security, and guardianship issues and identified concepts to replicate in the Ann Arbor area. They also took a break, rolled up their sleeves, and helped us clean up our grounds, warehouse, and Loan Closet. Whew! Thanks, law… Thanks, Michigan Law Students!Read More Thanks, Michigan Law Students!
