Second Annual Recreation Art Auction to Benefit CIL Arts, Sports & Gardening Attachment(s)

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Enjoy learning and relaxing with us for cycling, poetry workshops, or gardening at the Ann Arbor CIL? Next week, you’ll have a chance to show the love.

Work submitted for the 2011 Auction

On Thursday, July 28, a Recreation Art Auction featuring the work of local artists will benefit the Ann Arbor CIL Recreation Program.

Ypsilanti’s Corner Brewery will host the event, where works in a variety of media — pottery, photography, painting, sculpture, handmade crafts and more — will be available for bidding in three silent auctions; one will run between 6:30 – 6:45; the second from 7:15 – 7:30; the third from 8:00 – 8:15. ┬áThere’s sure to be something for everyone at this year’s Auction; all works will be organized into tiered price categories, and small items will be available for cash. Participants are invited to relax and enjoy complimentary finger foods as well as the Brewery’s cash bar in between auctions. All proceeds will support existing Ann Arbor CIL Recreation Programs, which includes all arts, sports and gardening workshops, classes and events.

Beyond fundraising, the Recreation Art Auction seeks to spread awareness of Ann Arbor CIL Recreation Programs. IRide, the four-day, fully-inclusive cycling trip across Michigan, is one of the Program’s spotlight events. Additionally, new construction projects connected to CIL Recreation, ┬ásuch as the expansion of the CIL Garden to include twelve wheelchair accessible plots and the remodeling of the CIL warehouse to create new space for the CIL Fitness Center, will be a major part of the evening’s focus.

Last year’s auction raised over $800 for Ann Arbor CIL Recreation Programs and featured more than twenty works of art. Help us make this year’s auction an even greater success! The Recreation Art Auction is Thursday, July 28, 6 – 9 PM; The Corner Brewery is located at 720 Norris St., Ypsilanti.
