Successful Tomato Cage Workshop

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012
On Tuesday June 19th, and Tuesday June 26th, the Ann Arbor CIL offered a free ‘Make your own Tomato Cage’ workshop. Participants in the workshop made tomato cages of various sizes for themselves, and/or the community garden.  The workshop was led by community gardener, Lili Fox, an Art Education major at Eastern Michigan University. In the workshop, Lili taught the participants how to make their own tomato cage out of all natural materials: sticks, Virginia Creeper Vines and Grape Vines. Lili came up with the idea to use these materials by not wanting to purchase  a tomato cage for her garden, and instead getting creative with the natural materials available to her.  To our delight, Lili, then decided to share her innovative idea with our gardening community! We applaud your innovation, creativity and self – sufficiency, Lilli!
