The Ann Arbor Area Business Leadership Network (A3BLN) was selected as a 2012 Diversity Champion honoree for “Corp! Magazine” on June 25, 2012. The A3BLN was formed by the Ann Arbor Center forIndependent Living just over 2 years ago to help change the landscape of business practices for hiring people with disabilities. Pioneered by Ann Arbor CIL Career Services and managed by Stephanie Stiles, Manager of Business and Benefactor Development, the A3BLN has grown to 100 members consisting of community leaders, CEOs, and HR Directors.
“In the past year, we started to host this quarterly event at various local Michigan businesses to allow an opportunity to showcase other local organizations leading the way in promoting diversity and disability in employment,” stated Stephanie Stiles. Topics range from “Overcoming Limitations to Successful Employment” to “Tax Incentives for Hiring People with Disabilities.”
A special thanks to organizations that have hosted the event including: Ann Arbor SPARK, Cueter Chryser, and NuStep. The next event is slated for Wednesday, September 12 from 7:30 – 8:30 am at Sandler Training. If you would like to get involved, host an event, or present, please contact Stephanie@aacil.org or 734-971-0277 x 21.
The breakfast program honoring the winners of “Michigan’s Salute to Diversity” will be on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the MGM Grand Detroit.
