Russian Renaissance

Saturday, January 27
11 am – 12 noon
Rackham Auditorium

Register For Free

UMS has teamed up with the Russian Renaissance to make a free and inclusive live classical music experience available for audience members who would benefit from a more relaxed concert environment, including people with autism spectrum disorders, sensory or communication disorders, and their friends and families.

This is a free event. Registration is not required, but is recommended. UMS will follow up via email the week of the event with those who register in advance to provide detailed materials that will allow audience members to become familiar with the environment before they arrive.

What makes this event sensory friendly?

This sensory-friendly event is modified to accommodate individuals with sensory-input disorders, such as people on the autism spectrum, those with anxiety, and people with a range of cognitive abilities.
At the open rehearsal, you will notice relaxed “house rules.” People may need to get up, move around, and leave the theater during the rehearsal. There is no expectation that the audience will be completely quiet during the event.

Our volunteers will be available throughout the rehearsal to help you if you have any questions. Our goal is to create an environment where people with autism or sensory needs, along with their friends, families, and caretakers, can enjoy live world-class music together and will feel comfortable, supported, and free to be themselves.
