It’s a once-a-year event, the CIL’s most fun and exciting night!  Due to attendance nearly doubling last year, we promised a larger venue.  We owe a special thanks to UM North Campus Research Complex (formerly Pfizer), for making this a reality.  Our new space at their facility at 2800 Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor can hold over 500 guests!  Help us make this year’s Annual Gala Benefit Auction and 35th Anniversary celebration the best yet!

Join us to enjoy good times, laughter, and excitement, all to raise needed funds for the Ann Arbor CIL!  There will be hors d’oeuvres, a strolling dinner (Chelsea hospital provides the food for this event), a chocolate fountain (donated by Maximum Delights), and, new to this year, a featured LIVE CONCERT!

Featured World-Class, Top-Ten Artist to Perform at 2011 Gala!

Billy McLaughlin has generously confirmed to perform at our Annual Gala Benefit Auction this year.  Billy McLaughlin is recognized internationally as a world-class guitarist, composer and inspirational performer who has appeared on Billboard’s TopTen Chart.

Due to his strong connection with the Ann Arbor CIL’s mission, Billy is flying in early from Barcelona to perform at the gala on October 22nd.  Over a decade ago, McLaughlin began to struggle with his own disability.  He got a neuro-muscular disorder called Focal Dystonia. After suffering several years without a cure, he regained his career by re-learning his instrument left-handed. His remarkable comeback is captured in the documentary film Changing Keys and a concert film called Coming Back Alive.  Billy McLaughlin looks forward to sharing his passion for gaining awareness for individuals with disabilities, performing at the Ann Arbor CIL Annual Gala Benefit Auction and sharing his journey with guests on October 22, 2011.  To learn more about his career, click here.

Currently, Billy serves as the Ambassador for Awareness for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, McLaughlin is the winner of the 2010 Public Leadership in Neurology Award whose previous winners include Paul Allen, Julie Andrews, Leon Fleischer and Michael J. Fox.

Live Auction

Last year, together, guests raised a record-setting amount of money to support the programs and services offered by the Ann Arbor CIL.  Guests also pledged an impressive $14,000 that enabled the construction of a fully-accessible bus stop platform and shelter right outside the Ann Arbor CIL.  The platform, shelter and sidewalk were installed in November 2010 and have improved the functionality and safety for all who use the bus stop at the CIL every day.

We appreciate all who came out to support the work of the Ann Arbor CIL and the programs and services that help individuals with disabilities throughout Southeast Michigan improve their quality of life.  It truly makes a tremendous difference.  We look forward to our best year yet!

See you at the Gala this fall!
