Join the Fun!
The Annual Great Lakes Independence Ride is an exciting and fully inclusive cycling event to promote advocacy and awareness for individuals with disabilities. The IRide is the only cycling event of its kind in Michigan. Now in its sixth year, the IRide is a four-day cycling event from the west coast of Michigan to Ann Arbor that covers over 240 miles. Last year, 150 people participated in the event, and 35 cyclists completed the entire journey from St. Joseph to Ann Arbor.
You can ride one day, two days, all four days, or join us for the Final Mile Celebration. This year, we are starting on August 2nd and will finish at the Ann Arbor CIL on August 5th.
IRide is a fun event that encourages cycling and fitness through full inclusion, regardless of the type of cycle you ride. Everyone, with or without a disability, is invited to participate at whatever distance fits their abilities.
Dates:
August 2nd: Ride begins in St. Joseph, MI at the Disability Network Southwest Michigan
August 5th: Concludes with the Final Mile celebration at the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living
The Cause:
Participating in the IRide is both a personal challenge and an opportunity to raise needed funds to support the activities offered by the Sports and Recreation Program at the Ann Arbor CIL throughout the year. You can also choose to designate your fundraising efforts to support your local Disability Network / Michigan member CIL. CILs are local nonprofit organizations that promote the success of children, youth, and adults with disabilities at home, at school, at work, and in the community!
