Last year, the CIL partnered with the Abilities Alliance, a workgroup of the Livingston Human Services Collaborative Body, to conduct a comprehensive survey of people with disabilities in Livingston County to understand current issues and needs among the community.
The recently-released report of results highlights that employment and difficulty finding a unique niche that fits unique disability needs remains the top issue among the community. Transportation was also listed as a prevalent issue. Additionally, finding more social and recreational outlets was also cited as a key issue. Information regarding utilization of local services, barriers and additional unmet needs was also gathered.
The CIL is working actively in Livingston county on these three top issues: employment, transportation, and creating social and recreational activities. For more information, contact mhymes@livingstoncil.org.
